I will not step into the cage of my past
defining myself by what has gone
by the marks on my canvas
made in another time and place
for I am an ongoing work in process
each stroke valuable to the whole of the picture
I will not become trapped in the grooves of the past
repeating, like a record needle stuck
but remain fluid, ever evolving,
moving onward, constantly
recreating myself anew.

beautifully said. We can only move forward ... bravely ... tackling the issues as they present themselves. The more we dwell in the the past, the more our fotward motion is restricted. Experiences are there to become stories for our friends, not chains on ourselves :-)

I like that - "experiences are there to become stories for our friends"
Thanks very much for the comment :-)
I love this poem, Susannah. It speaks to me so much right now! Thank you for sharing it.
Thanks very much for dropping by Joyce. :-)
This poem really speaks to me, especially the end: "constantly
recreating myself anew." That is a gift to be able to see a path out of the ruts, to be able to reinvent yourself over and over. I also adore this image--VERY powerful, at once both a cleansing and a rebirth, a testament to the power of water in our lives--and I'm guessing, the allure of water in your own.
I like it--it reminds me of one of the things they always say on my favorite yoda DVDs:
"Your body is a work in progress. With each breath, be new."
Applies to life as well! Thanks for stopping by my blog; happy I could help with the mango situation :)
Thanks Oriana, yes it is true, we have to evolve, change and adapt to 'the now' it is a constant 'letting go' a flow. The image - I superimposed myself in a waterfall - ah, the allure of water! :-)
Hi Tamara, I love . . .
"Your body is a work in progress. With each breath, be new." what a wonderful affirmation that would be, to stop throughout the day concentrate on your breath and remember that phrase.
Thanks for stopping by and again, thanks SO much for the mango advice! :-)
I love your blog. Very inspiring. I hope it is ok to add it to my blog roll. we all so need to hear this beautiful wisdom... regularly!
thank you
Hi Barbara, I would love to have my blog on your blogroll, thanks so much. :-)
Thanks for visiting and your comment, it is much appreciated.
When people grow more honest with themselves, their lives transform. Love the energy here. To share stories of lessons learned helps others as you also help yourself. This is why writing and sharing reflections empowers others and you. Check out Self-Disclosure: Changes from Within, a new book you can read about at the Dreambuilders Australia Blog.
Excellent and powerful. Love it. Blessings and joy
